MEROS LANGUAGE SCHOOL

Description

MEROS LANGUAGE SCHOOL started with only 80 students 36 years ago. Since then, we have been carrying on our valued policy, that is “to build a good relationship with students by grasping each student face and background “as DNA even if we became a long-established school with over 10,000 graduates. Students’ goals are truly varied, such as students who want to enter renowned universities, graduate schools and top-level institutions for specific areas, students who want to master enough Japanese communication skills for job hunting in Japan, Japanese-rooted students who want to improve Japanese” etc. Whatever students’ goals are, our only mission is “to raise Japanese skills up to target level within a limited period.” We’ve been described by one student as being “Like my family; warm-hearted, but sometimes meddling.” As a caring school, every time students’ career paths are decided, we share the joy with them.

Features

With over 10,000 graduates, one of our strongest points is that we have over 10,000 guidance experiences. Being a large school, we offer various levels of guidance, and we can deal with any students’ study goals from all angles. Our experienced teachers, who are at the top of the Japanese language school industry, can understand exactly what each student needs and guide students sincerely. Moreover, our multinational environment sees students, regardless of their native languages, naturally communicate in Japanese both in and out of class. All of our teachers are serious about giving appropriate guidance to each student to live in Japanese society using Japanese in the future. Our guidance style is not only about mastering language, but also about deepening understanding of Japanese culture. This outstanding style leads to our graduates’ successes related to Japan wherever they are in the world. Students can get involved with study-in-Japan experiences from over 10,000 graduates. These are very exclusive experiences only at Meros.

Curriculum

Fifty-eight level-separated classes (at max.) are set. Classmates are at the same Japanese level and this environment enables students to improve their Japanese skills. Students can acquire language skills, picking up targeted Japanese skills upon a stable foundation in basic classes, special classes to prepare for graduate schools and getting a job, art-focused special classes and more. Students can obtain the “habit of learning,” an important skill in future work.  Furthermore, so as not to stop learning, interactive online lessons were introduced in March, 2020. By crossing online×face to face×teachers’ experience values, we have been evolving further toward a hybrid curriculum.

Courses

Admission takes place four times a year. Students include those who graduated from secondary schools in their countries and want to enter Japanese universities, students who have work experiences in their countries and want to get a job in Japan by making use of their specialization and others. Whatever their study purposes are, we can accommodate them. It is possible for students to steadily progress with the best study plan to raise Japanese skills up to the desired level. Condensing the long-term course, students work toward their goals in this intensive course. The course is good for students who want to pass JLPT NI to help their career, students who need communication skills improvement and interview practice that are necessary for job hunting and those who came to Japan, accompanied by their family who want to master basic Japanese skills necessary in daily life in Japan. Students can improve their desired Japanese language areas.

TOYO LANGUAGE SCHOOL

Description

Toyo Language School is a school that teaches students with our original education system called “JCT education system.”  It consists of three steps; JJM (Monitoring), Counseling and Target-setting.  By taking our JJ monitoring (test), students can check their Japanese ability, and by analysis of their results with homeroom teachers, they can set new targets every three months.  We are not simply teaching Japanese, but as TLS has the goal to educate humanity, we consider the activities very important because play integrates learning.  At TLS, students will meet Japan from many different angles and to learn Japanese at different places.  They will then be stimulated, made aware and grow.  Enjoy the wonderful life of overseas study that will be the key to Japanese improvement.

Features

To follow the JCT education system, we provide a counselling sheet as an analysis tool for all students each term.  Counseling sheets enable students to know their strengths and weaknesses in detail. For students who know their own weak points and want to overcome them, elective classes in a relevant field are recommended. Classes are organized from beginner to intermediate level to assist students in their weak areas, such as grammar, the use of particles or kanji characters, and students can see how their progress. We believe that Japanese study is not only to remember vocabulary and grammar. In order to learn Japanese well, the experience about trying to tell or let someone understand are good ways.  Students in intermediate levels are looking for themes to make posters and learn how to communicate in Japanese through team projects.  At the end of the project, they will have an opportunity to present to Japanese guests.

Curriculum

In addition to basic proficiency in grammar and vocabulary, the TLS curriculum is intended to make use of prior learning by engaging regularly in tasks that combine at least two of the four skills: listening, speaking, writing and reading. Through the TLS teaching method, students improve their practical Japanese language abilities, progressing from the more basic “I understand” to the more advanced “I can use it.” We have four levels for basic Japanese classes; Let’s start, Take a step forward, Make human relationships and Send information. Each class takes at least three months to be complete and it helps students to see their goals clearly. Once students can comprehend basic Japanese, they move forward to advanced levels and try to get high scores at EJU (Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students) and pass high JLPT levels  to enter higher education institutions.

Courses

The purpose of studying in Japan depends on each student. Studying as a long-term student to get a job or go to undergraduate, graduate school or professional training college, they need to get a student visa. Entrance is available four times a year (April, July, October and January), and the school will be decided by Japanese language ability and plan after graduation. Our staff applies certificates of eligibility (COE) which is necessary for the student when they apply for a student visa at the Immigration Bureau on the designated dates according to each entrance timing.
