Mizubasho Artist Series sake, made from Ozegahara’s environmental conservation project on the 10th of September 2020

Nagai Sake Brewery in Gunma Prefecture, which exports sake to 40 countries and regions worldwide, will release a new product “Mitsubasho Artist Series Kataoka Tsurutaro” from the 10th of September 2020 with the running concept of environmental conservation in Ozegahara (Oze) in the Gunma Prefecture. As an original sake made for environmental conservation in Oze, 5% of the sales will be donated to the “Oze Mizubasho Project”.

The Label designed by Tsurutaro Kataoka

The symbol of the “Mizubasho Artist Series” is of the white skunk cabbage (mizu basho/Lysichiton camtschatcensis), of which the Oze marshland is famous for. Tsurutaro Kataoka, an actor and artist better known as Yogi, created the label. The label is a simple but delicate oil finger painting, perfect for the image of the sake and area it represents.

Oze’s White Skunk Cabbage

The White Skunk Cabbage is the symbol of Oze, but as of late cultivation rate has been decreasing due to vermin and climate change. Nagai Sake Brewery has been working with Oze High School and Tokyo Power Technology to protect the mark of their marshland. 5% of the sales from “Mizubasho Artist Series” will be donated to this initiative.
