TOYO LANGUAGE SCHOOL
Toyo Language School is a school that teaches students using our original education system called “JCT education system.” It consists of three steps; JJM (Jikei Japanese Monitoring), Counseling and Target-setting. By taking our JJM, students can check their Japanese ability, and by analyzing their results with homeroom teachers, they can set new targets every three months. We are not simply teaching Japanese, but as TLS has the goal to educate humanity, we consider the activities very important because play integrates learning. At TLS, students will see Japan from many different angles and learn Japanese in different places. This will help them to be stimulated, made aware and grow. Enjoy the wonderful life of overseas study that will be the key to Japanese improvement.
To follow the JCT education system, we provide a counseling sheet as an analysis tool for all students each term. Counseling sheets enable students to know their strengths and weaknesses in detail. For students who know their own weak points and want to overcome them, elective classes in a relevant field are recommended. Classes are organized from beginner to intermediate levels to assist students in their weak areas, such as grammar, the use of particles or kanji, and students can see their progress. We believe that Japanese study is not only about remembering vocabulary and grammar. In order to learn Japanese well, the experience is about trying to tell or let someone understand in good ways. Students in intermediate levels are looking for themes to make posters and learn how to communicate in Japanese through team projects. At the end of the project, they will have an opportunity to present to Japanese guests.
In addition to basic proficiency in grammar and vocabulary, the TLS curriculum is intended to make use of prior learning by engaging regularly in tasks that combine at least two of the four skills: listening, speaking, writing and reading. Through the TLS teaching method, students improve their practical Japanese language abilities, progressing from the more basic, “I understand,” to the more advanced, “I can use it.” We have four levels for basic Japanese classes: Let’s start, Take a step forward, Make human relationships and Send information. Each class takes at least three months to complete and they help students to see their goals clearly. Once students can comprehend basic Japanese, they move to advanced levels and try to get high scores on the EJU (Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students) and pass high JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) levels to enter higher education institutions.
Short-term study with an eye to future studying in Japan, brushing up before the JLPT or EJU, or improvement of communication skills and Japanese culture experiences, there are so many things to learn even in a period of three months. We perform counseling to each student, even short-term international students, and we really hope you make use of this valuable opportunity of studying in Japan. It should be noted that a student visa is not needed for stays of less than three months. You are allowed to stay in Japan as a temporary visitor (depending on whether the country or region has visa exemption measures). Also, we are providing on-line classes in order to adapt to today’s lifestyle. If you would like to have some information to consider studying in Japan in the future or to experience Japanese language classes even if you are not in Japan, please contact us. We also offer support for various purposes and goals that are closely tied to school classes.

Additionally, we boast two extracurricular activities per term, totalling eight immersive Japanese experiences per year! Our teachers are of an extremely high quality; for example, one of our teachers used to teach Japanese at a university in the U.K. On top of this, all of our teachers care very strongly about our students and do their very best to make sure the students are constantly growing. This carries over as far as aiding students in finding jobs, and helping them on their paths to higher education. Our school also offers support for students, such as helping a student who has just arrived in Japan to settle into Japanese student life, finding accommodations and part time jobs, providing assistance at the ward office and more!
With an emphasis on improving communication skills, our school’s motto is “Let’s learn Japanese that you can actually use”! Every day without fail, we revise what was learned in class the previous day. Our main focus is not just progress to higher education, but also working together with our students to coach and guide them to achieve what they want to get out of studying Japanese, whether that is higher education, employment or other areas. Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) practice and employment related studies (such as job interview coaching) are included in our curriculum, however we also work on perfecting the three normal classroom skills (reading, writing and listening), as well and developing fun and interesting classes outside of the academic setting of desk learning.
Online lessons taught by our school’s exclusive veteran lecturer currently living in Europe! As our classes will be held at a convenient European time, it is easier for those who have trouble scheduling around Japanese time. Recommended to those who wish to study Japanese in their home country and for those who have an interest in Japan but are still unsure as to whether studying abroad is right for them. Based on an original schedule and curriculum, it is possible for even the busy worker who wishes to take classes once a week.

Our curriculum also includes Japanese for business, job hunting, interviews with Japanese people from outside of our school, doing presentations based on topics decided and researched by the students and more!
Short-term course students will be put into the same class together with long-term students. Students will be put into a class level suited to their current Japanese ability. We also accept enrollment for long vacations such as summer and winter breaks. You are able to learn a good and useful amount of Japanese in a short-term course.
