Grand Opening of Tokyo Kaikan 08/01/2019!!

The 8th of January, 2019 marks the grand opening of Tokyo Kaikan, a place known for its traditional taste that goes right back to the Taisho era. Beloved ever since its opening in 1922, it maintains its unique flavour under the concept of “New Tradition.” Situated inside the Marunouchi Nijubashi Building, it runs from the first floor to the seventh, hosting countless restaurants, banquets and weddings with perfect access to Tokyo Station and Hibiya Station thanks to its direct connection to the underground concourse.

Founded in November 1922 in Marunouchi, Tokyo Kaikan has been a place anyone can use. Where large groups can host a wide variety of events. When Western culture began to spread in a world where social occasions were not yet common, Tokyo Kaikan was an innovative facility that had never been seen before. Through its temporary closure after the Great Kanto Earthquake and its name change after the second world war, Tokyo Kaikan has remained unique in style and hospitality, fascinating not only Japan but also notable persons from all around the world.

Restaurants & Shops
Starting from its opening with authentic French cuisine to the second opening with six restaurants, the new building offers an increased total of 8 shops.

Restaurant Prunier
Prunier, Japan’s first fresh fish specialty store, hosts a special fusion of traditional cuisine with modern French taste by Hiroyuki Matsumoto, a chef who studied in a three star French restaurant. Tonguefish, a special dish handed down since the opening of the restaurant is a fish with a plump texture, fresh in taste and drizzled lightly in sauce. The entrance contains a large wine collection and the interior is welcoming, decorated with fish motifs and water themes.

Roast Beef & Grill Rossini
Of all the specialty restaurants in Tokyo Kaikan, Rossini is well known for its extremely popular roast beef dishes. The succulent rose pink shine of the meat is so soft it can be cut easily with a kitchen knife, the very definition of a heavenly dish. Vegan dishes and meals for the health conscious are also available. The design concept for this new restaurant is that of an Opera/Theatre style. A deeply relaxing atmosphere with red designs that create a space perfect for all special occasions.

In addition to this is the Tokyo Kaikan Curry, which takes three days to create. Marron Chantilly, a traditional taste that is well loved and handed down over 50 years. Tokyo Kaikan offers all of these tastes and more in a relaxing and spacious atmosphere perfect for any situation.

Banquet Halls

The third and seventh floors contain banquet halls, perfect for a variety of occasions, from meetings to events. The main banquet hall, “Rose” has become the symbol of Tokyo Kaikan and is the largest event space in Marunouchi with a capacity of 2000 people. Containing state-of-the-art equipment such as the international MICE, a 500 inch screen which makes full use of the 7m ceiling height, a gorgeous and modern hall.
The seventh floor contains a banquet hall that overlooks the Imperial Palace, another that contains a view of the Marunouchi Naka-dori. Ten halls in all which contrast the serene peacefulness of the Imperial Palace to the hustle and bustle of Marunouchi naka-dori.
